"Gaudete!" is taken from Piae Cantiones, published in 1582. No tune for the verses was provided in that publication. This is the tune found in the New Oxford Book of Carols, which is derived from the Bohemian song "Ezechielis porta". Therefore it's slightly different to the version you've probably heard recorded by Steeleye Span, as they used a different tune for the verses. The tune here was used by, among others, Musica Donum Dei on their Christmas album titled "Gaudete! Music From Christmas Past", which is excellent. Shameless plug and disclaimer: their musical director is my recorder and viola de gamba teacher.
I'm breaking the usual practice about performing this song by using instruments in some of the verses. It's my recording, so I'll do what I want with it.
lyrics
Gaudete! gaudete! Christus est natus
Ex Maria Virgine: gaudete!
Tempus adest gratiae
Hoc quod optabamus
Carmina Laeticiae
Devote reddamus
Gaudete! gaudete! Christus est natus
Ex Maria Virgine: gaudete!
Deus homo factus est
Natura mirante
Mundus renovatus est
A Christo regnante
Gaudete! gaudete! Christus est natus
Ex Maria Virgine: gaudete!
Ezechielis porta
Clausa pertransitur
Unde Lux est orta
Salus invenitur
Gaudete! gaudete! Christus est natus
Ex Maria Virgine: gaudete!
Ergo nostra concio
Psalat jam in lustro
Bendicat Domino
Salus Regi nostro
Gaudete! gaudete! Christus est natus
Ex Maria Virgine: gaudete!
