Richard Mico (1590-1661) wrote some fantastic pavans which we always enjoy playing at the weekly viol consort session. This four-part pavan, of course, has been arranged for recorders and played entirely by me, but I still think it sounds pretty good.
Although it would be a great deal more miserable on viols, the recorder is still capable of the stateliness of the dance.
