This was my first time performing with the viola de gamba and singing at the same time, and it went down fairly well. There are a few mistakes, but I'm generally happy with it.
Twa Corbies itself is a Child ballad, about a pair of ravens who elect to feed on the body of a recently-slain knight. There's a similar ballad which is a fairly happy conclusion, but in this version he's thoroughly dead, abandoned, and the ravens get their feast. So I suppose it's a happy ending for them at least.
Recorded at Belper Folk Club singers' night, 19th of April 2010.
